Hello lovely people,
I very much enjoyed a day of crafting yesterday, especially as Dr. Hubby was nowhere to be seen for most of the day since he was happily playing a newly released, and much anticipated, game for the Playstation 4!
I had a lovely time experimenting with some more of my new stamps :-)

Now, it's time for a new challenge at As You Like It and we have a lovely theme for you...
YOUR FAVOURITE...FLOWER
...and don't forget to tell us why it's your favourite!
Very appropriately given our theme, our sponsor this time is Wild Orchid Crafts with a £12 voucher
My favourite flower might be a little predictable but it's roses, even more from a card-making sense than IRL!
I love the way roses can be used on both modern and vintage style designs and of course, I love to use 3D roses on my creations, but I have them on the image and papers here too!
It's quite a 'classic Kat' kind of card but I did do a couple of tiny things differently to usual.
The biggest difference is the use of Inktense pencils to colour the image rather than my Copics, and I have to say I am loving these more and more.
I feel happy that I have now figured out how to get a nice flicking effect on the hair which I think adds a lot of texture.
I used a darker Distress Ink to edge my papers and image to give more of an 'antique' feel, so this is Gathered Twigs instead of my favourite Frayed Burlap.
I also didn't take the twine across the entire card...ok, that's a VERY tiny difference - lol!
It's funny isn't it how we all have our favourite die cuts that get used a lot and some that don't...but just sometimes are perfect for a project. That was the case with this corner die cut that I really like but don't use a lot as it often doesn't seem to suit the card...I hope you agree it found it's niche here!
I have still used my beloved Maja DP but this is some that I haven't used before even though it's from quite an old collection and I am loving the deep blue.

It is adorable Kat, beautiful coloring with your pencils...have to admit I love coloring with pencils.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about certain dies, i have quite a few like that.
sending hugs xxx
Oh this is gorgeous Kat! I really need to get me some of those pencils, as though I usually don't like the look of pencil-coloured things, these are actually really lovely and you can achieve a pretty soft effect that alcohol markers just can't. like you did here. And her hair is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have also decided that if I could "copy and paste" any one blog buddy's paper collection into mine, it would be yours. They're always so gorgeous, and you've been responsible for me buying more than a couple of pads! lol. x
This is a gorgeous card Kat, Sweetie is one of my favourite Wee stamps and she looks wonderful in the deep blue. Well done for dipping your toe into a new medium and i must say you've done a fantastic job with them. I have to admit to having a full set of these pencils in my drawer and I have rarely used them, because I find it difficult to get the skin just right. You have really nailed it though.
ReplyDeleteLove the Vintage Autumn papers you've used also, the whole card has such a lovely feel, almost like a piece of Delft china. Love it :) xx
Just gorgeous - I love your delicate colouring, I wish I could achieve the muted effect xx
ReplyDeleteEverything about this is beautiful Kat...your colouring once again is super...that hair!! You are my copic queen, looks like you are also going for the Inktense title too! Lovely papers and soft colours and yes your corner die cuts fit the bill perfectly! Hugs x
ReplyDeleteHi Kat
ReplyDeleteFabulous image... Beautifully coloured ... ..

Like you say... this is definitely a 'classic Kat' style card... and like all your cards - it's absolutely beautiful. I always love these Wee fairies.. and I do love how you've coloured her with your pencils... they are much more subtle than Copics. I think I have that corner die tucked away somewhere too.. it looks perfect on here.. definitely the right place! I have lots of dies that never see the light of day.... that's what happens when we have too much stash. OOOOOPS - did I say 'too much'? Wash my mouth out!!! There's a papercraft show in Harrogate on Saturday......
ReplyDeleteBig hugs

ReplyDeleteThis is an absolute delight Kat. That blue is such a pretty shade and enhances your roses theme perfectly. All in all a "blooming" lovely card xx
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! Loving the deep blue for a nice change! And the gorgeous floral print is perfect for that image!

ReplyDeleteWow this is another gorgeous card Kat, love those papers and your superb colouring on the sweet image.
ReplyDeleteLorraine
Amazing & gorgeous as usual Kat, but I am particularly impressed with hair colouring, which is even better than with Copics, IMHO! Mum x
ReplyDeleteWow Kat, how utterly perfect that paper combo goes with that adorable image. The flowers coloured in blue are just gorgeous with those fabby papers. You ALWAYS get it right, but I do utterly love this combo. I've had that sweet LaLa Land filigree corner on my wish list for ages, must get it soon. It looks utterly perfect in the kraft card to finish this gorgeous card. Every detail is spot on hun and your colouring as always is flawless. The Inktense give such a lovely soft finish. Love it!! Hugs, Wends xoxo
ReplyDeleteStunning Kat. Your cards never cease to amaze me. Beautiful. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kat, this is a stunning card! I love your colouring with those pencils, do you blend them with water?
