Snuggle up

Hello lovely people,

Here we go again with a new challenge at Crafty Little Fairies and very sadly, it is our last ever challenge :-(

Our final theme for you is... HOLLY AND/OR IVY

Well, it pretty much had to be another Christmas card with that theme didn't it?!
I've done a stepper design and there is holly both on my image and the little charm I added.

These stepper designs are great for using up quite small bits of DP and I love adding a little detail to the top of the front step with a border punch.

I always add a strip of card in the centre of my stepper designs so that it can't slip open when standing so I thought I'd show you, just in case you're interested!

And this post wouldn't be complete without a close up of the sweet bunnies all cosy in their stocking.

Card recipe;
Image: from LOTV but now discontinued
DP: Vintage Frost Basics - Maja Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Tag: Christmas sentiment tags - LOTV
Punched edge: Cherish (punch around the page) - Martha Stewart
Kraft letters: cut with my Cricut

Copic colours;
Bunnies: E40/41/42
Hats: B91/93/95 & T3/4/6 (right) & R39/89/99 (left)
Branch: E43/44/47
Leaves: BG93/96/99
Berries / bow: R39/89/RV99
Fur on stocking/hat bobbles: T0/1/2

If you pop over to Crafty Little Fairies you can check out the beautiful creations from my teamies and details of the four prizes on offer from some fabulous sponsors.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Challenges I am playing along with;
1.  Papertake Weekly (anything goes)
2.  Simon Says Stamp (Christmas/holidays)
3.  Divas by Design (feeling festive)

Rosette tags

Hello lovely people,

Here we go again with a new challenge at Crafty Little Fairies and our theme this month is...

NOT A SQUARE

I have been enjoying making shaped cards recently so that would have been a good option here but I was suddenly inspired to make some tags or maybe they could be used as decorations?!

I made the rosettes by using a punch along a 12" strip of paper and folding by hand at regular intervals.  If you like your rosettes with more folds then you could join 2 pieces of paper together.

I tied a little jingle bell at the top with twine, which made them instantly unacceptable to Dr. Hubby, but I rather like the noise they make!

Tag recipe;
DP: Silent night - Pion Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Bells: Silver jingle bells - The Ribbon Girl
Dies: Swirl flower - Marianne Design

We have FIVE prizes up for grabs this month so do pop over to Crafty Little Fairies to see what you could win and check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the fairies.

Just the one...

Hello lovely people,

So here's my second post of the day (scroll down for my In The Pink DT card!) and this one is for our new challenge at Crafty Little Fairies with the them this month of...

ONLY ONE DP

*gasp*  Just the one?  Ok, this was actually easier than I thought it would be and I really like how this design turned out.
I did the sentiment on the computer and it took aaaaages to find the right combo of fonts and get it all aligned how I wanted but I do think it goes well with the CAS styling.
The photo is looking a little more 'vintage' coloured than IRL; methinks I must have taken this in poor light!

Now this close up of sweet Tilda looks a bit brighter!  I added little dots of pearl pen among the flowers.

Card recipe;
Image: For You Tilda - Magnolia
DP: Coffee in the arbour - Maja Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)

Copic colours;
somewhere on my desk... to be added when I find them!

If you pop over to Crafty Little Fairies you can check out the fabulous creations from my teamies and we have a wonderful selection of prizes up for grabs so I hope you will join in with us for a chance to win :-)

Snowball fight!

Hello lovely people,

It's a double blog post day from me today so if you're after my card for In The Pink then just scroll on down.

However, if you are here for the new challenge at Crafty Little Fairies then you are in the right place and our theme this month is...

SPARKLE AND BLING

We have 4 fabulous sponsors this month so do check those out on the blog to see what you could win :-)

I am on a roll this year with my Christmas cards and for this one I have teamed up a new-to-me Tilda and some of my enormous new stash of Pion DP!  I bought loads of Christmas papers, some from new and some from old collections.
My bling is a little shy in the photos but I have some from the Frantage in the corners, gems on the snowflakes, a little charm and the snow is all covered in glitter...fairly subtle I'll admit but that's how I like my bling :-)

I adore skiing so of course I had to get this Tilda stamp although she does appear to be snowball fighting rather than skiing!
I did think about giving her gloves but it's quite hard to roll a good snowball with gloves on so she has bare hands... just in case anyone was wondering!

Card recipe;
Image: In the snow Tilda - Magnolia
DP: Silent Night - Pion Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Tag: computer generated sentiment and hand cut into fishtail
Dies: Impression Obsession snowflake set

Mother's Day James

Hello lovely people,

I don't know about you but the days off at Easter and then my usual day off yesterday has left me very confused about what day of the week it is right now.
So, in case anyone else isn't sure, it is THURSDAY so that means it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Little Fairies and our theme is...

FURRY FRIENDS

We are sponsored by...

My favourite furry friend has to be the adorable James from LOTV and this is the card I made for my Mum for Mother's Day.  It's a fairly simple design, made before my new stash of flowers arrived, but I  wouldn't have added flowers anyway as it really doesn't need anything else IMHO.

I kept the shading quite light on James and paper pieced the heart adding a different little scrap for the patch.  I wasn't sure how well it would work given the placement of his paws on the heart but a little care with the cutting out and it's all fine!

Card recipe;
Image: James - big heart - LOTV
DP: Vintage autumn basics - Maja Designs
Swirl: Leaf and swirl die - Magnolia Doohickey
Twine: ivory button twine - The Ribbon Girl
Tags: Sentiment tags (set 24 & set 69) - LOTV

Copic colours;
James: E41/42/43/44
Rose: R39/59/89 & YG97/99
Ground: T 0/1/2/3/4

If you pop over to Crafty Little Fairies you can check out the fabulous creations from my teamies.  Don't forget that from next week our challenge goes monthly!

Button up!

Hello lovely people,

Yes, it is Thursday once again (where does the time go to?!) so we have another challenge for you at Crafty Little Fairies and our theme this time is...

BUTTON UP!

This week we are sponsored by the wonderful Whiff of Joy...

Prize - stamp of winner's choice

I am continuing with my attempt to do more male designs and my first choice for men/boys is always the fabulous LOTV.  I had the perfect paper pad to team with this image and used some twine to add a little texture and interest.

Aw, I just love this little chap with his HUGE boat, which was just crying out for some paper pieced sails to give a nice co-ordinated look.  Oh and yes, getting the twine stuck down how I wanted was proper fiddly but I do like the end result!

 Card recipe;
Image: Sailing Boat - LOTV
DP: By the sea - Maja Design
Sentiment: Happy Circular Sentiments (set 8) - LOTV

Tag!

Hello lovely people,

Another Thursday and another challenge from us at Crafty Little Fairies and our theme this time is...

ADD A TAG

I had a good old think about what to do for this and then the light bulb came on... my fave way to add sentiments is on little tags so that's what I've done.

I have gone for quite a masculine design and kept it super simple although I now think I should have stitched around the image panel.
I think this card would be lovely as a get well soon or thinking of you card but the sentiment makes it really versatile.

Card recipe;
DP: Hope - Authentique
Ribbon: twill tape - find similar at The Ribbon Girl
Button: from stash

Copic colours;
Fur: E40/41/42/43
Umbrella: B93/95/97/99 & G21/24/YG63/67 & E44/47

Not square!

Hello lovely people,

Merry Thursday to you all and here we go with a new challenge at Crafty Little Fairies where the theme is...

THINGS WITH WINGS

It's another double sponsor week with prizes from...

with a surprise goody bag

AND

with this lovely prize;

Now, if you are wondering about my post title, it's because I have gone for an A5 shape card, which I almost never do.  I was having one of those days where I thought I would deliberately push myself out of my comfort zone and I ended up being really happy with the layout :-)
And to be fair, the rest of the stuff on this card is well and truly in my comfort zone; the Maja DP, stitching, tags and ribbon/twine combo!

It was lovely to use this Saturated Canary image again and I do think she suits unusual coloured hair!  And a little sparkle for the fairy dust of course :-)

Card recipe;
Image: Tilly - Saturated Canary (rubber stamp)
DP: Vintage Spring Basics - Maja Designs
Seam binding / button twine: The Ribbon Girl
Dies: Precious stars - Memory Box

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/11 & R30
Hair: V20/22/25/28
Leotard / blue socks: B52/93/95
Tights: BV0000/000
Purple details: V20/22/25
Wings: BV0000/000/V20/22
Apron: BV000/B95/T0/1
Ground: T0/1/2/3/4

If you pop over to Crafty Little Fairies you can check out the fabulous creations from my teamies.  I have lots of fairies in my rubber/digi stamp collection but there are other things with wings out there that you could use such as butterflies and birds.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Challenges I am entering;

2.  Cute Card Thursday (girls, girls, girls)
