Romance in an umbrella

Hello lovely people,

I've been in Bath studying for a couple of days and Dr. Hubby has been working away for a few days so we are now re-united and going to enjoy a day together...I think it's coffee date time!

It's also time for a new challenge at As You Like It and our theme is...

YOUR FAVOURITE...1 LAYER OR MULTI-LAYER
...and don't forget to tell us why it's your favourite!

Our sponsor this time is Crafts-U-Love with a £10 voucher

I love to make multi-layered cards as I enjoy combining lots of pretty papers and it works well with the slightly vintage style that I like.

Sometimes I find it hard to achieve a soft look when colouring with Copics but I was delighted with how this turned out :-)
The umbrella was tricky because BG70 is so much lighter than BG72 that it is really hard to blend it nicely but I used a bit of 'tip to tip' technique and it worked a treat.
If you haven't come across this technique before, I coloured the image as I usually would but then touched the tip of BG70 on to the nib of BG72 to pick up a bit of the darker colour and applied this to the image to smooth out the shading between these 2 colours on my image.

I finished off by adding a couple of random lacy edges, some flower clusters and a little metal charm...ah, so romantic :-)

Romantic ribbons and bows

Hello lovely people,

Once again time has flown by and we have a new challenge for you at In The Pink and our theme this time is...

RIBBONS & BOWS

We are sponsored by Dies to Die For with a very generous prize of a £15 voucher

I was feeling in a romantic mood so it was pretty florals all the way for this design.

Ooooh, and do you see my brand new shaped base die?!  It may not quite knock my other favourite shaped base (this one) off the top spot but it does have the advantage of being a little bigger.
And I can still stitch round it!

This is the first outing for this adorable image and it was such a joy to colour, with a tiny bit of sparkle on the butterflies and a scattering of Frantage; I haven't used that for a while so thought I'd have a play!

If you are thinking that the seam binding doesn't look terribly white, then hats off to you super eagle eyed people!  I decided it was a touch too bright white so I dabbed almost all the ink off the foam pad I use to apply my Distress Ink and then lightly swiped it over the seam binding and it looked much better!

Hmmmmm, my wedding anniversary is coming up soon but I doubt I will get a ride in an umbrella or a bunch of flowers...nope, probably not even a card, but that's ok, it's how we roll!

Tag!

Hello lovely people,

Another Thursday and another challenge from us at Crafty Little Fairies and our theme this time is...

ADD A TAG

I had a good old think about what to do for this and then the light bulb came on... my fave way to add sentiments is on little tags so that's what I've done.

I have gone for quite a masculine design and kept it super simple although I now think I should have stitched around the image panel.
I think this card would be lovely as a get well soon or thinking of you card but the sentiment makes it really versatile.

Card recipe;
DP: Hope - Authentique
Ribbon: twill tape - find similar at The Ribbon Girl
Button: from stash

Copic colours;
Fur: E40/41/42/43
Umbrella: B93/95/97/99 & G21/24/YG63/67 & E44/47
Water: B0000/BG70/B21/blender

Head over to Crafty Little Fairies to check out the lovely creations from my teamies.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Under my umb-e-rella ella ella...

Hello lovely people,

Are you singing yet?  Sorry if that's stuck in your head now!  I'm back with my second card of the day as it's new release time at All Dressed Up and we have four fantastic images for you this month.  They can all be purchased from the shop.

A Little Me Time

A Time to Share

Looking Gorgeous

We Make a Good Team

As usual I had a hard time deciding which image to use but from my post title I'm sure you have guessed which one I've gone for :-)
I decided on a clean layered design for these little cuties - they just didn't need any embellishment other than a hint of lace and a few pearls.

I paper pieced the umbrella and added a little shading to it with Copics, then coloured the rest of the image with Copics.

Card recipe;
DP: Lost & Found Madison Avenue and Lost & Found 2 Blush - both MME
Sentiment: Clear mini stamp set - Kaisercraft

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/11/21
Hair (right hand girl): E35/37/47
Hair (left hand girl): E50/53/43
Blue dress and details: B91/93/95/97
Yellow dress and details: Y21/23 & YR23/24/30/31
Bag: E35/37
Umbrella: R000/RV11
Ground: T0/1/2/3/4

Do pop over to All Dressed Up to see what my teamies have created and check our our current challenge which has the theme 'Clean and Simple.' Any of these new images would be perfect for it, plus you are in with a chance of winning 3 images of your choice!
We would love it if you swung by our Facebook Group to share your creations and chat to fellow ADU lovers :-)

Hair that is different

Hello lovely people,

I am running rather late in posting this card for the SC challenge.  You know sometimes you just can't seem to get things to go how you want?  That was me with this card :-(

So, possibly out of frustration with the card, I ended up with quite a plain finish to it but I think it works.  I guess I could add on a sentiment at a later date if needed.  I did really like the double bow though!

I also enjoyed colouring the hair pinky purple even if it's not my best colouring and I added a bit of sparkle to the bottom of the dress and the umbrella although the stuff on the umbrella doesn't show up all that well.

Card recipe;
Image: Let it Rain from Saturated Canary
DP: Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics
Seam binding: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Heart button: made by my sister-in-law
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00 & R30
Hair: RV91/93/95
Dress: B0000/000/91
Apron: E81 & YR30
Boots: E81/84/87 & YR30 & RV69
Umbrella: B0000/000

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Saturated Canary (hair that is different)
2.  Papertake Weekly (anything goes)

Today was clearly not going to be my day as I also missed the delivery of my new craft goodies because I was out with Dr Hubby collecting rather a lot of wood.  He is currently in the garden making a seriously over-engineered but hugely impressive compost bin with 3 bays for compost!  And I will have to wait until Friday for my craft bits to be re-delivered :-(

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,
Kat xx
