LOTV wedding sentiment trio

Hello lovely people,

I'm here with a DT post for LOTV today and it's another sneak peek of one of the new trio sets coming out on 28th February.

In what I think is a first for me, I've made a 3 card matching set, using one of the sentiments on each.

I am going to show you all of them at once though because it saves time on writing blog posts and that way I  won't bore you with lots of similar posts...or keep you in suspense!

I contemplated adding flowers but was really liking the clean modern feel to these so settled on just a few die cut hearts and some twine, plus a little sparkle pen on the hearts on the image.

I really love the elegance of these sentiments and they are absolutely perfect for a focal point when you don't really want to do a lot of colouring...oh yes, I did actually say that!

I was pretty happy with all the designs but I'd love to know if you have a favourite...it will be interesting to see if it's the same as my fave!

Bunnies in love

Hello lovely people,

I do hope everyone is having a good weekend :-)

I went to a beer festival last night but didn't overdo it and it wasn't a really late night so I was raring to go with some crafting today.

Which is just as well, because I have so many fab new stamps I want to play with at the moment that I really need to get cracking!

My first project today was to finish up this card using one of the latest images from LOTV and some gorgeous goodies from The Ribbon Girl.

This might well be my favourite image from the latest release because I think it's sooo cute how one bunny is sprinkling the other with heart petals...awwwww!

It seems I must have been on a bit of a DP binge recently as this is yet another new paper pad and oh, these papers are bee-yoo-tiful...the prettiest soft blue and pink in delicate designs *sigh*

It's been so much fun working with these lovely romantic images from LOTV and I am excited to tell you that there are even more new images on the way in a few weeks time!

Slick chick

Hello lovely people,

I have a Dies to Die For DT card to share with you today.

You may have spotted that there is a new Stamping Bella release on the way, and I am happy to say I have my pre-order in :-)

So, while I wait for that to arrive, I thought I'd get my Stamping Bella fix with an image from last year.

I had a bit of a falling out with my Copics whilst trying to colour this chick, so switched to Inktense pencils and was much happier with the result.

This guy certainly has style doesn't he?!

I enjoyed designing on the circular base shape and kept it fairly simple with just a little strip of corrugated card for texture and a few hearts scattered around.

The heart dies were all scrounged out of various die sets but they are all by MFT so they match perfectly in shape :-)

Sparkling romance

Hello lovely people,

Uh oh...time is flying by again and it has been a busy week for me so far.

I was working again on Monday and Tuesday and then yesterday I did a little shopping and went for my sight test/contact lens check.  It turned out that my prescription had changed quite a bit so I needed new glasses.  I always find picking new frames quite stressful, but I eventually decided on some and I am actually quite excited to pick them up next week as my current glasses are 4 years old so it will be nice to have a change!

At least I have a couple of days now to catch up on housework and crafting...ahem, probably just crafting if I'm honest - lol!

Now though it's time for a new challenge at In The Pink and our theme is...

The image I chose for this wedding card is really rather large so I kept the design fairly CAS and I 'cheated' a little by using small strips of DP down the sides rather than whole panels.  These weren't actually scraps although the design would be great for using up scraps; I just didn't want to waste all that precious DP!

This has been a fave wedding image of mine for a long time so it was lovely to finally colour it and I definitely met the sparkle requirement by plastering the bottom of the dress in Glamour Dust!

Yeah, you might have to use some imagination for that, which is crazy because it is unbelievably sparkly IRL!

Heart die challenge - part 2

Hello lovely people,

If you saw my post yesterday you will know that I set myself a little challenge to make 3 different cards with my new heart dies.

FYI: I have set myself these type of challenges before...and so far, only ever made it to 1 or 2 cards before giving up!

I kept this one pretty CAS as I think simple layering with coloured card really shows off the design of the dies nicely.

I cut the larger heart into white card and layered lilac card behind it and then layered the smaller heart onto lilac and popped it on top using foam pads.

All it needed to finish was some co-ordinating satin ribbon, a single pearl and, of course, some stitching!

Romantic stepper card with tutorial

Gosh, doesn't time fly?!
I intended to post this over the weekend but got carried away with other things...all good!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend whatever you were up to :-)

I have another stepper card to share with you and this time I have done a tutorial to go with it.
I am also showing off some lovely LOTV products on this card as part of the Design Collective.

So, first up I'll show you the finished card and then I'll get into the tutorial.

I started with a 14.5 x 29cm rectangle of card, and the picture below shows where I made the scores (dashed lines) and cuts (solid lines).

I always start by making little marks on all four edges of the back of the card (what will be the inside) at the indicated measurements on the picture.

Then I make the 2 cuts (the solid horizontal lines) with a craft knife and finally I score the other lines with a very ancient metal toothpick...but I guess any scoring tool that you have will be fine!

This method means that I cut and score exactly the bits that I need to and no more, so you end up with a nice complete back panel and no unsightly extra score lines.

I then gradually fold it up, starting with the middle fold and working down from there.
One of the folds (second from right hand side) is technically scored the 'wrong' way round for folding if you do all the score lines on the back, but I find it's a lot easier to score everything just on one side and just take care when folding it.

I sometimes like to get a little extra space on my central panel so for this design I cut a rectangle of white card and die cut the left and right hand sides, so the finished panel, as below, ended up about 11.5 x 13cm.

I cut rectangles of DP just slightly smaller than the side and bottom panels so a little white border is visible.
As usual, all the panels were inked and stitched.

I wrapped the bottom panel with twine before I attached it.
Now, I've been asked a few times how I attach twine and my main tip is just to fray the end of the twine first so it lays a bit flatter, then I simply tape it down!
Like so...

I then added the pink heart panel and image panel, sliding them under the twine.  I had to be very specific about the order in which I added the layers and twine so I could get the twine on top of the image!

And I can't finish without a close up of the adorable dog, which Dr. Hubby says is entirely unrealistic because dogs don't have opposable thumbs so there is no way he could hold on to the balloon - lol!
