Coffee for Dad

Hello lovely people,

I seem to have been very busy crafting lately as I have a few projects lined up to show you, and today's card is the one I made for my Dad's birthday.

Coffee cup birthday card using MFT coffee cup die

He and I share a love of coffee and since I had just 'acquired' this fab MFT coffee cup die, it seemed it would be rude not to use it!

I thought it would look cute tucked into my new Happy Birthday circle die...and then I realised the lettering exactly matches the lettering in the stitched banner alphabet - perfect!

I used some bean stamps to add detail to the corners of the base layer of DP, and a little coffee steam swirl.  I wanted to use a darker ink than I usually would to ink the edges and stamp the beans so really, I had to use Ground Espresso didn't I?!

If I've tempted you with any of the lovely supplies I've used then you can go straight to the individual products via the thumbnails at the end of my post or just pop over to Dies to Die For and have a little browse around!

I hope the week is going well for you all :-)

Relaxing with a coffee

Hello lovely people,

Happy weekend to you all!
I am not planning on leaving the house all weekend; as far as I'm concerned it's a good weekend for crafting, watching a film or two, and plenty of coffee!

Today I have a project to share with some gorgeous goodies from The Ribbon Girl because our new 'Use any image' challenge is starting.
As usual, there are 3 fabulous prizes up for grabs so do check out all the details on The Ribbon Girl blog.

Now, talking of coffee...

I have used pink for this image twice now, so thought it was time for a change, so here is Jasmine in blue!
Ok, I still snuck in a little pink for the mug - lol!

The corrugated card is back again, but for this card I actually peeled the back layer off to make it less bulky and rigid.

For the large flower I pulled the stamens out of a cherry blossom and added the pearl and diamante flatback instead, which I think gives a lovely touch of glamour.

I hope you are all staying warm and cosy this weekend and having fun whatever you are up to :-)

Coffee boy

Hello lovely people,

I have had a short working week as I had Monday/Tuesday off to catch up on my crafty projects, and am now enjoying a relaxing weekend at my parents' house.
I attended a great workshop on Saturday with my Mum and my fab crafty friend Debs, and we had a wonderful time getting inky and covered in glitter!
We walked to a brilliant local firework display in the evening and have been indulging in lots of gorgeous home-cooked food courtesy of my Mum; the white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry puree was a real highlight :-)

While we are sat relaxing with a coffee I thought I'd share the card I made for my brother's birthday.  He loves coffee just like me so I had a great reason to use my fab Greeting Farm stamp set again.  Last time I used it the end result was rather more girly as you can see here.

I coloured this with my Inktense pencils and am delighted that I have now figured out how to add finer details like the shadows that the hair casts on the face and clothing folds.

Since I was doing a masculine card I raided my stash of corrugated card again...I love this stuff!  I am pleased to report that I managed to buy some corrugated card and whilst it's not quite as distressed as this lovely recycled packaging, the colour is perfect and I guess I can have fun distressing it myself!

I hope you are all having super weekends whatever you are getting up to.

Give me coffee!

Hello lovely people,

Happy Sunday folks and I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend whatever you may be doing.

I have been enjoying a catch up with friends and just about to start my day with some yummy homemade banana pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup - mmmmmm :-)

While I tuck into those, I have a project to share with you using some gorgeous goodies from The Ribbon Girl.

I couldn't resist making another card with this beautiful paper pad and I have to admit that aqua is probably my fave colour after pink.

I also took the opportunity to play with yet another new stamp and this time it's an adorable little girl with a coffee cup...this could be me as I do need regular caffeine hits throughout the day to function properly!

I do love the shabby chic look and have admired many a card with cheesecloth and/or chipboard pieces on them but haven't really being confident enough to try these...until now!

I am really pleased with how it turned out :-)

I was clearly feeling very experimental with this card so also decided to pull out the stamens from the turquoise cosmos flower and replace it with a sparkler...ooooh, that is so sparkly and gorgeous!

Brewtiful gift boxes

Hello lovely people,

Scorchio!!
I am so not going to complain that it's too hot because we have been waiting a long time for some Summer weather and I am going to enjoy it!
Plus it's a great excuse to eat ice cream...I LOVE ice cream :-)

It's never too hot to stop me drinking coffee though, as I love it even more than ice cream, which leads me on to my project today...

Pair of coffee themed gift boxes in bright colours

I worked out the template for this pair of gift boxes so that the top section is just slightly bigger than the bottom section.

I used a new die that Sue *insisted* that I bought a few weeks ago at the Dies to Die For pop-up shop...to be fair, I didn't need a lot of persuading!

It is really lovely, and includes dies to cut out the 3 small shapes to place behind the main die cut.
I coloured each of these sections with Copics to match the papers as I didn't have any plain papers in the collection.

I used a sentiment from my new Greeting Farm stamp set as it was the perfect fit for the coffee theme.
Oh yes, and I used my new MISTI tool to make sure it was perfectly positioned - yay!

For the top I layered up circles with the top one on foam pads and just taped the ends of the cord inside the box lid.

I need to crack on with a big crafty project today so if you spot me snoozing in the garden instead, give me a poke!
