Hello lovely people,
I spent most of yesterday doing one of my favourite activities...shopping for crafty stash!
I went to The Paper Craft Show at the National Motorcycle Museum with my Mum and came home with lots of lovely new things to play with. I'll share some pics and my thoughts on the show in another post.
My head is now buzzing with ideas for using my new stash so while I have a play, here's a new baby card I made using LOTV products for the image and tag.
I wanted to make use of my new-ish large circle dies and do a circular base shape, but did wonder how I would make it stand up straight!
I eventually settled on cutting the bottom of the back layer off to make sure it would stand up straight; what does anyone else do?
I paper pieced the onesie as this is a great way to get a perfect match to the DPs and I still added some shading for definition. How cute is the teeny heart print for baby girl clothes?!
I haven't used my Cricut for ages, probably because it was on the floor due to lack of space on my desk. It now has a space to sit on my new desk so I hope I will use it a bit more. I think lettering is one of the most useful things I can do with it and that's what I used to personalise this card.

It's always great to change things up a bit and make a different shaped card base. I, like many others are stuck in a rut of creating a square card out of habit and ease. Yours is wonderful and I think cutting the back layer is the best option for helping it to stand straight.
ReplyDeleteLove the sweet image you have used and your paper piecing using the tiny pattern looks perfect for baby clothes too. A cute and adorable card.

HI kat, A beautiful card you have created, the stamp is adorable and love the paper piecing. Fabulous colours and card shape. Hugs Jennifer xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so perfect Kat for a baby... and as always your layers and colouring are fabulous. Gorgeous paper piecing of that little babygrow... so tiny! Also, love the clever idea to cut the bottom off the back to make it stand in the right place without rolling too!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see pics of your new stash!
Big hugs

This is beautiful. Gorgeous card x
ReplyDeleteOh Kat,this is gorgeous, I don't know where to start (well, firstly I was going to say that I cut the bottom of the back of the card straight to make circular cards stand up which sounds like what you have done too).
ReplyDeleteThis is a truly amazing card. You have put together a beautiful colour and paper combination and your colouring of that super image is exquisite. You clever paper pricing is just perfect and i am so chuffed you have used your cricut.
All just total gorgeousness.
Three more sleeps eeeeek!
Can't wait to hear about the craft fair.

I utterly LOVE this Kat! Gorgeous papers, fab circular design, set off beautifully by your fabulous stitching and I think the paper pieced stretch and grow is fabulous! Gorgeous card hunny. Hugs, Wends x
ReplyDeleteI love circular cards Kat and this is gorgeous. You've coloured the horse beautifully and the paper piecing is inspired because those papers are perfect! I rarely use my cricut and like you only really do letters and numbers, must make better use of it!
ReplyDeleteLovely work :o)

Super colouring Kat..and paper piecing..hadn't thought about that for the onesie!! Thank you for all your inspiration. This is a lovely card..and yes I cut off the bottom on around card..but usually front as well as back.....hmm food for thought!
ReplyDeleteVery cute card, Kat. Love the shape and admire coloring skills. :)
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome day!

ReplyDeleteHope you had a great day on sat. Looking forward to seeing all your goodies
Hugs Kelly
This is so gorgeous!! Love those papers and the cute image perfectly coloured!
ReplyDeleteThink I made a circle card once and just very slightly cut a flat edge so you couldn't see, I didn't think to do it on and back only! Lol

Fab baby card and yes, I can see what you mean about the circular card. The snipping of the back sounds like the best option. Alternatively make an easel fold, but that's not quite the same. It's perfect Kat.
