Elephant love

Hello lovely people,

It's weekend time again so I hope you are having fun!

I had something else lined up to blog today but decided that since it was World Elephant Day yesterday that the pair of birthday cards I made for some lovely blog buddies were more appropriate...

I have coloured the elephants with Copics but I do want to try colouring these cuties with Inktense pencils as well...I'm pretty sure they will look gorgeous either way!

The buttons are clear buttons that I customised by adding washi tape across the back and trimming down.  The pattern shows through but in a lovely subtle way.

This worked out so well that I now need to get my hands on some more clear buttons because I only had a couple!

Looking at the photo above reminds me...does anyone else trim twine because it's too fluffy?!

Yes, I know it's supposed to be rustic and fluffy but my neat freak brain just can't cope with long strands all over the place, especially on the bow, so I always find myself tidying it up a little - lol!

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

  8. These are so adorable! Love the way you coloured them and the colour combos you chose. What a great idea using washi tape behind the buttons, I never know what to do with washi tape. I'm with you on the button twine, I do try and buy smooth twine when I can because I'n not a huge fan of the hairy look, I don't often do rustic, and yes I have trimmed my button twine before lol! :) xx

  9. How could anyone resist such a cute little elephant like this. Love the colouring and as always a fabulous design. Hugs ~Jennifer xx

  10. These are totally adorable Kat and I love what you have done with the buttons, such a clever touch xx

  11. Belated Happy Elephant Day! Darling cards, I love your idea to colorize the clear buttons with washi...brilliant!

  12. Both so adorable Kat, brilliant idea with the washi. And yep I'm a twine trimmer lol sending hugs xxx

  13. Two adorable Ellie cards Kat. Such gorgeous colouring on both these images and pretty CAS designs using the lovely papers. Thanks for sharing your idea with the washi tape, I have a few reels of the stuff and just don't know what to do with them, mind if I 'borrow' that idea?
I hope your return to work isn't too stressful.

  14. Hi Kat, these cards are super cute! I love your button idea! I may have to borrow that!
    Hugs Lynsey x

  15. How cute is this elephant? Love the design of your card and such a great idea with the washi tape and buttons! I think you may have stared a mad rush now on the sales of clear buttons!
