Pretty Vintage

Hello lovely people,

Oh dear, was that a whole week since I posted anything?!  I've had a few days off work which was fabulous but they flew by as well!
So, I'm here with a really quick post to share a little card I made for a lovely blogging friend.  For this one I wanted to avoid over-embellishment and pink... well, I think I managed a clean look but there is a teeny bit of pink ;-)

This image is one of my faves to colour up and I love all the little patchwork bits on her dress :-)

Card recipe;
DP: Vintage autumn basics - Maja Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Tag: Sentiment tags - LOTV
Heart: Memory Box die

Copic colours;
Skin: E000/00/21/11/04 & R20
Hair: E43/44/47
Dress / bag: BG90/93/96 & BG70/72/75 & RV93/95/99
Shoes: W3/5/7
Sockes: W00/1/3
Ground: W00/0/1/2/3

I may have mentioned how much I love Maja and Pion Design papers right?  Yeah, as if you couldn't tell from my blog!  So I just have to confess that earlier today I had a HUGE splurge on these yummy papers at Live and Love Crafts... I only popped in to look at the new Christmas papers - oops!  They do have 10% off on everything though until the end of August so maybe you need to head over there too?!

Thank you so much for popping in and for your lovely comments - I love to read them :-)

Challenges I am playing along with;
1.  Simon Says Stamp (anything goes)
2.  Divas by Design (happy birthday)

Birthday fairy

Hello lovely people,

I'm on countdown to the lovely long bank holiday weekend now, especially as I have an extra few days off afterwards so won't be back to work until next Thursday :-)
I may need that time to recover from the beer festival we are going to on Saturday...lol!

Until then, we have a new challenge for you at In The Pink and our theme this month is...

FAIRIES / ELVES

I know this theme will be a big hit with you all and I was certainly spoilt for choice as to which image to use.  However, I hadn't used this lovely Saturated Canary image yet and I also wanted to make a birthday card for a lovely blogging friend and thought this was perfect for her.

I also thought this image would be great for practicing my hair and clothing colouring... well I certainly set myself a challenge!  Apart from the skin I always start by colouring the bit I am most nervous about in case I make a mistake... so where to start here?!  Hair or dress?!  I did the dress first and was so relieved when the hair turned out ok too :-)

Card recipe;
Image: Fairy wishes - Saturated Canary (rubber stamp)
DP: Special delivery (girl) - Pebbles - (available from Hey Little Magpie)
Seam binding: The Ribbon Girl

Copic colours;
Skin: E000/00/21/11/04 & R20
Hair: E53/43/44
Dress / shoes / wing spots: RV11/32/34/E04
Wand: YR30/Y21/23
Ground: T0/1/2/3/4

If you haven't already done so then do pop over to In The Pink and check out the magical creations from the rest of the Pink Ladies.
Also, it is Helene's last challenge with us and we are really going to miss her beautiful work :-(  I also have to say thank you to Helene for showing me how she ties such pretty bows... I used her technique for today's card and love how it looks :-)

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Challenges I am playing along with;
1.  Inky Chicks (fairies/angels)
2.  A Creative Romance (fantasy)

Christmas penguins

Hello lovely people,

It's time for a new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday and our theme this time is...

ANYTHING GOES

Well, that's made it easy for you hasn't it?!
We are sponsored by Bugaboo and they kindly let us use some images, so I thought I'd crack on with Christmas card number 2!
This was going to be a CAS design but as you can see, I went a bit off piste!
I have stamped the corners of the base layer of DP with a swirly design and added some sparkle to the flowers and the image with Glamour Dust.

I fell in love with this cute penguin trio as soon as I saw them and before anyone wonders why the feet aren't orange... have you seen penguin feet?!  In pictures they are almost always orange but in real life they are almost always black... so I went with black!

Card recipe;
DP: Vintage frost basics - Maja Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Seam binding/twine: The Ribbon Girl
Swirl stamp: very old set - maybe Basic Grey?
Sentiment: Pink Petticoat but no longer available

Copic colours;
Penguins: W6/7/9 & W00/0/1
Beaks: YR30/31/Y21
Feet: W8/10/100
Blue bits: B91/93/95 (&B97 on ear muffs)
Brown on scarf: E43/44/47
Snow: W00/0/1

I hope you will pop over to Top Tip Tuesday and check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the team and the fantastic shaker card tutorial from Deneen.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Challenges I am playing along with;
1.  Sweet Stampin' (Christmas in August)
2.  A Gem of a Challenge (stitching)
3.  As You Like It (fave 2 embellies - flowers because they look so pretty and there are so many lovely types, and twine because I like the slightly rustic feel to it and it looks great on it's own, tied round ribbon or for tying on tags)
4.  Winter Wonderland (anything goes for Christmas)

Pop-up Fairy

Hello lovely people,

Are you ready for the weekend?  And are you ready for a new challenge at All Dressed Up?  This time our theme is a lovely easy one, it's...

FLOWERS

I finally cracked and had a go at making a pop-up box.  Cutting the base shape was really simple although I had planned to cut the rounded edges of the flaps with a die but realised I couldn't fit the whole box shape in my Cuttlebug so had to do them by hand - oops!

I used a couple of new Magnolia dies that I simply couldn't resist buying any longer; the gorgeous fence and the fancy border.  These dies may be expensive but they are super pretty and cut so beautifully :-)

Of course I spent ages positioning the tabs inside the box and the pop-up elements!
The butterflies are attached with really thin strips of acetate so they look like they are fluttering around the fairy :-)
Here's a little peek inside so you can see the construction...

The most amazing thing about these cards is how they fold flat for posting... ok, not if you chuck a load of embellishments on them!  I kept mine fairly flat and I still ended up making a box for it to go in just to keep it really protected.
This is what it looks like folded flat(ish)...

Card recipe;
DP: Crea Diem - Maja Designs (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Seam binding/twine: The Ribbon Girl
Tag: Sentiment tags - LOTV
Dies: Lovely fence, leaf and swirl, heart flower lace - Magnolia DooHickey, Fancy blossoms - Memory box

Copic colours;
Skin: E000/00/21/11/04 & R20
Hair: E21/25/29
Dress: RV91/93/95
Bow: BV20/23/25
Butterflies: V0000/000/RV91/93 & BV0000/000/20/23

Do pop over to All Dressed Up to see what the rest of the Dressy Girls have created; they are all stunning! We'd love to see you join in for a chance of winning 3 images of your choice!

Framed Tilda

Hello lovely people,

I am here with a non-DT card that I made for my great aunt-in-law who had a horrible incident where a dog attacked her dog and pushed her over so she broke her wrist :-(
It was also her birthday a few days later so I wanted to make something special to cheer her up and I went for an all out pretty feel!

Now, how often do you cut a fancy shape out of a piece of DP and don't even think about the waste piece?  Well I do it all the time, but not on this occasion!  I used the outside piece to create a frame for my image and I was planning to raise it up a little but decided it actually looked better flat.

This was my first ever Tilda so will always be one of my faves.  I have added some glamour dust to the ribbon and the little dots amongst the flowers and then just for good measure I popped some on the 3D roses as well!  I haven't done this before and think it looks really pretty :-)

Ingredients;
Image: Tilda binding flowers - Magnolia
DP: Coffee in the Arbour - Maja Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Seam binding/twine: The Ribbon Girl
Die: leaf and swirl - Magnolia Doohickey
Sentiment: So Wordy sentiment set - Amy R

Copic colours;
Skin: E000/00/21/11/04 & R20
Hair: E31/35/39
Dress: YG63/G94/99
Dress sleeves/frill & leaves: G40/YG61/63
Flowers: R81/83/85/59/89
Ribbon: R81/83/85
Shoes: E33/35/39/59
Ground: T0/1/2/3/4

Thanks for popping by and for all your lovely comments - so much appreciated :-)

Challenges I am playing along with;
1. As You Like It (fave papers - it has to be Maja especially this latest collection as the colours are just gorgeous and I like that the patterns are quite small)
2. Marvellous Magnolia (Tilda & any sentiment)
3.  Tilda's Town (celebrate summer)
4.  Bunny Zoe's (summer colours)
5.  Simon Says Stamp (make it sparkle)

Prize = £10 voucher

I have been seeing Christmas cards popping up on other people's blogs for a while now and I thought maybe this year I should make an earlier start than usual so here is my first Christmas card!

It's a very simple design and was inspired by the lovely Marilyn; I adore how she often uses Frantage sprinkled lightly around the images so just had to have a go!

I printed the sentiment onto card and then stamped my very favourite Christmassy James image next to it.
I have just started the clothing class at Kit and Clowder so was keen to see if I could use some of the techniques on the hat and scarf.  I even added some of my own folds on the left of the hat and scarf and am pretty pleased with the result :-)

Card recipe;
Image: James in the snow - LOTV
Sentiment: Pink Petticoat (no longer available)
Frantage: Shabby White from Live and Love Crafts

Copic colours;
Fur: E40/41/42/43
Hat / scarf: B91/93/95/97
Fur on hat / ground: C00/0/1/3

Anything goes with pink!

Hello lovely people,

It's time for a new challenge at In The Pink and we are celebrating our 2nd birthday this month plus we have reached a fabulous 400 followers, so we've chosen a really easy theme for you this month...

ANYTHING GOES!

Oooh, everybody's fave right?  Of course, it still has to be pink but that's not difficult!

I was in my element with this card, up to my eyes in pretty papers, lace and flowers!  I often go for the slightly easier option of cutting my image into a rectangle so I thought I'd have a little change and get out the circle dies.

I seem to be having a really bad run of dropping spots of Copic ink on my images at the moment...can you guess where I've hidden one this time?!  Well, those hanging stars look so good there anyway - lol!

This is another new rubber stamp for me; I love all the Tildas so much that I am having to be a bit choosy about which ones I buy but this one was a bit different to the others I have so into my shopping basket she fell :-)

Card recipe;
Image: Ribbon dance Tilda - Magnolia
DP: My precious daughter - Pion Design (available from Live and Love Crafts)
Lace: Irene - The Ribbon Girl
Twine: The Ribbon Girl
Swirl stamp: Goblin branch - Magnolia
Dies: Circle stax - MFT Die-namics, Precious stars and cosmic star set - Memory Box
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts

Copic colours;
Skin: E000/00/21/11/04 & R20
Hair: E53/43/47
Outfit: RV000/R81/83/85/59
Ribbons: T0/2/4
Leaves: YG61/63

If you haven't already done so then do pop over to In The Pink and check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the Pink Ladies.  And no excuses for not entering our challenge this time with such an easy theme!

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Eat the cake!

Hello lovely people,

It's time for a new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday and our theme this time is...

SOMETHING SWEET

This time we have a $20 voucher up for grabs from our lovely sponsor;

I seem to have been making a lot of cupcakes and cookies recently so for the sake of my waistline perhaps I should stick to the virtual variety for a while!
This is a card I made for a lovely blog friend so the CAS style and stamp were selected to suit her and the fun sentiment was generated on my computer.

I decided to be a bit more adventurous with the skirt and added a whole bunch of folds to it... I *think* I like it!
I also have a terrible habit of dropping spots of Copic ink on the image I'm colouring, especially if there is a lovely big area of white.  So, yes, that happened on this card but all was not lost because I had already decided to add little pearl dots around the image so could cover it up.... well, almost...you can just about see which dot it is under if you look *really* hard as it is a very slightly different colour!

Card recipe;
Image: Ava loves to celebrate - Stamping Bella
Viva pearl pen

Copic colours;
Skin: E000/00/21/11 & R20
Hair: E21/25/29
Dress: V20/22/25/28
Bow / roses: R81/83/85
Leaves: G21/24
Cake: YR30/E41/42/43 & RV0000/00/R81
Plate: N0/2/4
Ground: N0/1/2/3/4

I hope you will pop over to Top Tip Tuesday and check out the fabulous creations and of course, the top tips from the rest of the team.
